The Secret Power of Self-Compassion - Increase confidence with self-kindness

A growing body of psychotherapy research over the last decades has been focusing on the importance of self-compassion on our well-being.

Individuals with higher self-compassion capacities indicate to be more satisfied with their lives, feel socially more connected and tend to have less anxiety, shame and depression. Research shows that self-compassionate individuals are more able to accept difficult emotions and have greater efficient emotion regulation skills. Though, many people think of self-compassion as self-pity, self-compassion is an antidote to self-criticism and self-pity. Self-compassion allows us to utterly accept painful experiences and show self-kindness so we go through the pain with greater ease. Self-compassion is the key to vulnerability which is essential for creating meaningful relationships.
